About Board of Literary Affairs

IITs have earned a distinguished reputation for their exceptional academic standards and their ability to produce not only technically proficient individuals but also well-rounded leaders who excel in various fields, including management and the art of public speaking. A vital component in this pursuit is the Board of Literary Affairs (BOLA), which assumes the responsibility of fostering and promoting literary talent within the IIT Ropar community.
BOLA serves as a catalyst for cultivating effective communication skills and providing a platform for students to showcase their literary prowess. Through a wide range of workshops, competitions, debates, writing sessions, quizzes, poetry, and other literary events, BOLA creates opportunities for students to engage in intellectually stimulating activities beyond the realm of technical education.
The BOLA Council consists of eminent individuals, including the Dean SA, Faculty Advisor, General Secretary BOLA, Club Secretaries, Representatives, and Coordinators. Their united vision is to create a supportive environment that nurtures student growth, fosters belonging, and promotes literary excellence within the student community.

The Board of Literary Affairs (BOLA), IIT Ropar, provides a platform for our students to hone their literary skills and prepares the future generation to be confident communicators. It has been my privilege to work with our very talented and enthusiastic students in the capacity of FA (BOLA) since 2021. As a team, we have striven to cultivate in our students excellent spoken and written skills. We aim to build a culture of healthy debates, conversations on diverse topics and groom our students into holistic and socially responsible individuals. Our objective is to capacitate our students to be ethical, value-driven, and efficient communicators through an array of exercises and activities. We believe that with this exposure and training, our students will acquire the necessary skills to live a good life and become the leaders of a better tomorrow.

Our Mission

Our mission at the Board of Literary Affairs is to foster and cultivate various literary pursuits. We aim to promote the art of effective speaking on diverse platforms, encouraging students to express themselves eloquently. Identifying and promoting discussions on important issues is a key aspect, fostering critical thinking and meaningful dialogue. We celebrate cinema while identifying and nurturing talent within the field. Providing an outlet for literary talent and increasing general awareness through quizzes are integral to our mission. Responsible use of print and online media, along with workshops focused on debating, writing, quizzing, and other literary fields, contribute to the comprehensive development of students in these areas.

Clubs under BOLA

Under the auspices of the Board of Literary Affairs, we are proud to present seven distinct clubs that encompass a wide range of literary pursuits. These clubs offer a unique platform for students to engage in various forms of expression, explore their creativity, and hone their literary skills.
